The Way Back Inn is, well; Way back In. we've been dreamin this Since 1994. The "Inn" is a 1880's Miner's cabin with a tire and strawbale addition built by us. If you ever wanted to be completely off the grid this is the place. Having said that we are only 30 minutes from Salida Co. and 20 minutes from the Arkansas river and all that it has to offer. The "Inn" sits in a high valley overlooking the Sangre De Cristo Mountains and one can literally hike or mountain bike right out the front door.
What is the Way back Inn.
So, when is the last time that the only sound you could hear was the music birds make?
When was the last time that without question you knew you were looking at the Milky Way?
Since 1994, I have been the steward of this land, and, it has taught me much.
The sound of the wind blowing through the trees sounds just like the sea. Colorado sun truly warms the soul and if you orient your house to the south, it too will have sol.! To build your home, not for resale, but, for yourself, to me, is one of the most empowering things one can do. To sit in a home that is warmed by the sun and has the mass to store the heat is----true comfort. To live with solar power, and therefore be the master of all your utilities is, well----liberating, and it don’t take much! To know the wildlife that inhabits the space we share, their habits, their signs, and sometimes their smell. These are the obvious things this place has taught. There are so many more subtle things like love and patience and so many others that I will probably never have the skills to communicate. This is what I want to share. What is: The Way Back Inn!

Fall is now definitely in the air. You can see it, feel it, taste it, smell it. It [fall that is] is wonderful.
The next morning after our coffee we took a small hike before heading back to town to open our store and it is these scenes that we were treated to.
The first hints of fall color and the dusting of snow in the high country that for us signifies indian summer.
Bring it on.
