Why you ask, is this property for sale. Why after all those years, laughter and tears, sweat, love and labor do you want to sell! It’s true, tis a labor of love. And everything that goes with ------ love.

Well I must say the decision does not come easily. But, it’s been since 1994 that this venture began, when - I was a young man, full of ideals and dreams. Times change, priorities to, I’ve done what I can. Now, it’s all up to you.

My dream for this property was to make it a retreat, a place to learn; natural building, permaculture, yoga, meditation, rest and relaxation. Well, the infrastructure is in. for someone else, a place to begin. From the property description you will find details of the land and infrastructure.

Late Autumn Around the Way Back Inn is Awesome

This morning was a classic Colorado late autumn kind of day. The Salida region gets one of the best falls in the state. Aspens change in the high country all through September, oaks, cottonwoods and willows through October. I can think of no other place in Colorado that gets a solid two months of fall colors

Fall is now definitely in the air. You can see it, feel it, taste it, smell it. It [fall that is] is wonderful.

After that nice rain we had last week, driving up to the Inn, just could'nt resist taking these photos.

 The next morning after our coffee we took a small hike before heading back to town to open our store and it is these scenes that we were treated to.
The first hints of fall color and the dusting of snow in the high country that for us signifies indian summer.
Bring it on.

So, this spring and summer has been a busy one up at the Way Back Inn.

After 18 years we have finally completed burying my spring line. The first 1000 ft or so was buried about 14 years ago, all through the lower meadow with hydrants and all. But, after 14 years we have finally managed to bury the upper portion of 1500ft of spring line. This was a huge under taking and am glad for it to be done.

We have had some good vacation renters up here so far this year and most seem to really get it. We had one lady arrive by herself in a Volkswagen Jetta!! not exactly the right car for the road, but hey, she was a former professional bicycle ryder and as she described “she saw her line and took it”. Spoken like a true cyclist.

We have also been trying to organize the construction materials stacked around the place but that too is a huge undertaking and considering the location most of those materials will want to be used some day.
